Who Raised The Debt Ceiling?
Interesting. And a bit misleading out of context, without an accompanying piece describing which group creates — and then extends — the debt and its ceiling. If I’ve been following this accurately (mostly through NPR’s PlanetMoney podcast), sitting presidents don’t have much to do with it compared to the sitting congress and the spending it recently authorized.
However, I’m not sure how you’d reflect which party and body led the spending that triggered the revised ceiling. In may just wash out as purple, really.
(I think I convinced myself I don’t like this graph, after all that.)
