  1. explore-blog: Researchers look at how those in science, technology, engineering, and math careers first became interested in the STEM field, finding that initial sparks differ between the sexes. It would be interesting to revisit the survey in a generation, once the internet has had time to shape young minds and kindle that initial intellectual curiosity about science. I find this more interesting for the shifts between boys and girls.  The need for mentors and role-models for STEM topics shows up even here.
